Informative | 7 Day Finance Sprint: Day 1
Over the next seven days, I'll be sharing tips and tasks to help you assess your spending habits and expenses, review your money management strategies, and set achievable goals for yourself.
Let's kick off Day 1 by setting a savings goal! We all know how important saving money is, but it can be challenging to actually put money into savings on a consistent basis.
The first step is to create a realistic savings goal for 2024. This goal should follow the SMART goal method, which stands for specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
To make your savings goal specific, consider setting a target amount, such as "putting $10,000 into my emergency fund". This allows you to have a clear objective to work towards.
Next, make sure your goal is measurable so that you can track your progress and celebrate small milestones along the way. With a target of $10,000, you can set monthly deposit goals to ensure you are staying on track.
It's also important to make sure your savings goal is achievable. To reach $10,000 in a year, you'd need to deposit approximately $833 per month. Take a look at your current spending and income to determine if this is a realistic and attainable figure for you.
Make sure your savings goal is relevant to your current lifestyle and future plans. Ask yourself, "Why am I saving?" and choose a goal that aligns with your objectives. Are you saving for a down payment on a house, or for a big trip in 2025? Make sure your goal is specific to your needs and desires.
Finally, set a deadline for your savings goal to keep you motivated and accountable. Having a specific date to work towards can help you stay on track and ensure you reach your goal.
Check back tomorrow for Day 2 of the "7 Day Finance Sprint, and let's make 2024 our best financial year yet.

1. Spot and dispute errors: Regularly checking your credit score can help you identify any errors or inaccuracies that may be dragging down your score. Disputing these errors can boost your score and help you access better loan options or interest rates.
2. Maintain good credit: By consistently assessing your credit position, you can avoid missing payments, reduce debt, and make timely payments. Doing this over time will help build and maintain a good credit score.
3. Stop identity theft: Sadly, identity theft and other forms of credit card fraud are on the rise. By checking your credit score regularly, you can spot any unusual activity or fraudulent accounts early on and take action to stop it.
4. Plan for the future: Checking your credit score annually can help you understand where you stand financially and make smart decisions about your future goals, whether it's buying a house or just improving your overall financial health.
5. Take action to improve your score: Finally, checking your credit score is the first step in making a plan to improve it. Whether you need to reduce debt, make payments on time, or add new credit lines, understanding your score and how to boost it can help you achieve your financial goals.

Informative | 7 Day Finance Sprint: Day 3
1. First, you need to calculate your net income - your take-home pay after taxes. Get a clear idea of what you're actually earning, and we'll take it from there.
2. Next, it's time to list out all of your monthly fixed expenses. This includes rent or mortgage, car payments, insurance premiums, utilities.
3. Once you've taken care of the fixed expenses, it's time to move on to the variable expenses. This category includes things like groceries, gas, travel, shopping, eating out, hair appointments, etc.
4. To accurately track your spending on variable expenses, look at your bank statements or credit card statements from the past 2-3 months. This will help you get a better idea of how much money you're actually spending each month.
5. Now that you have a clear understanding of your fixed and variable expenses, it's time to add them up. Get out that calculator and crunch those numbers! This will give you an average amount of money you spend each month - and hopefully, it's less than what you're earning.
6. If your expenses are greater than your income, it's time to make some changes and build better habits. This might mean cutting out unnecessary expenses or finding small ways to pinch pennies throughout the month.
7. Don't worry, I've got your back! In fact, on Day #7, I'll be sharing some great ideas on how to reduce your expenses. So be on the lookout for that.
8. Finally, it's important to schedule a monthly check-in with yourself to ensure that you're staying on track with your budget and overall financial goals. Trust me, this little bit of accountability can make all the difference.

Investing a few hours into automating your finances today can save you a tremendous amount of time, money, and headaches in the future. Here are five powerful ways to automate your finances and get ahead of your money matters:
Create a consistent savings habit by scheduling automatic monthly transfers from your checking account to your savings account. This simple step can help you build your emergency fund, save up for specific goals, and avoid the temptation to spend money you haven't earmarked for savings.
Avoid late payment fees and keep your credit score soaring by setting up automatic bill pay for your monthly and recurring bills. From rent or mortgage payments to utilities and subscription services, automate it all. You'll never have to worry about forgetting a due date again!
Get ahead of the game and prepare for your financial future by setting up automatic deposits into your investment accounts. Whether it's your 401(k), IRA, or brokerage account, regular contributions can help you grow your wealth and ensure a comfortable retirement.
Stay on top of your spending and subscriptions by using an app to manage it all. Apps like TrueBill and Bobby help you keep track of your subscriptions and spending habits, so you can adjust your budget and save money where you can.
Eliminate the stress and hassle of tax season by outsourcing some of the most tedious tasks. MileIQ is perfect for those who use their cars for business purposes, FreshBooks can help with invoicing, QuickBooks can track your finances and expenses, and Shoeboxed takes care of all your receipts.

Informative | 7 Day Finance Sprint: Day 5
A no-spend month is where you commit to only spending money on essential items like groceries, bills, housing expenses, and gas. That means cutting out ALL non-essential expenses like eating out, shopping, buying from Amazon, Starbucks lattes, food delivery, and anything else that falls in the "extra" category. Trust me, these small expenses can add up quick, so it's important to be mindful of where your money is going!
To help you succeed in a "no-spend month," I've got some tips for you:
1. Schedule your "no-spend month" when no major holidays or events are happening, which can often lead to spending.
2. Learn how to make your favorite coffee and alcoholic beverages at home. Not only will you save money, but you can impress your friends with your newfound skills!
3. Have some unused gift cards lying around? Use them during your "no-spend month" to purchase essential items like groceries or gas.
4. Pack your lunch to bring to work instead of buying it daily. Not only will it save you money, but it's often healthier too!
5. Find an accountability partner who can help keep you on track and motivated during your "no-spend month."
6. Spend less time online and on social media, which can often lead to impulse buying and unnecessary spending.
7. Set a savings goal for yourself and use it as motivation to stick to your "no-spend month" plan.
8. Unsubscribe from emails and texts that tempt you with sales and new arrivals from your favorite stores. Out of sight, out of mind!
9. Plan out your meals and grocery shop on a weekly basis to stay on top of your spending.
10. Learn how to do your own manicures and pedicures at home, which can save you money on salon appointments.

1. Take advantage of online courses: Many platforms offer free or low-cost online courses taught by finance professionals. Check out websites like Coursera or Udemy to learn on your own time.
2. Attend financial workshops: You can find workshops in your community or online that focus on financial literacy. This is a great way to interact with experts and other learners, and to stay motivated throughout your journey.
3. Listen to financial podcasts: Podcasts are a great way to learn while on-the-go, whether it's on your morning commute or during a workout. There are a variety of finance-related podcasts out there, including "The Dave Ramsey Show," "Afford Anything," and "Stacking Benjamins."
4. Read finance books: There's no shortage of great books on how to manage your finances and invest your money. "The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey, "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham, and "Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki are all solid options.
Remember, financial literacy is a journey, so don't be discouraged if it takes time to absorb and apply everything you learn. Just keep at it, and before you know it, you'll be a self-taught financial expert!

Informative | 7 Day Finance Sprint: Day 7
Whatever your SMART money goal is , cutting back on expenses is key to getting there.
1. Take 72 hours to consider any big purchases. If it's over $100 or $150, give yourself some time to think it over before pulling the trigger. This will help you avoid impulse buys and ultimately save you money.
2. Quit your Starbucks habit. I know, I know, this one is tough. But did you know that spending $7 a day on coffee adds up to over $2,500 a year?! That's insane. So, try making your coffee at home or bringing it with you from home. Your bank account will thank you.
3. Sell stuff you don't need anymore. We all have those clothes, gadgets, or furniture items that we never use. Instead of letting them collect dust, sell them on websites like eBay or Facebook Marketplace. You'll declutter your space and earn some extra cash.
4. Cancel subscriptions you don't use. Do you really need that gym membership, magazine subscription, or streaming service? Probably not. Take a look at your monthly subscriptions and see which ones you can do without.
5. Pack your lunch and snacks for work. Eating out every day can add up quickly. If you spend about $15 each workday on lunch, that's over $5,000 a year! Instead, try meal prepping or bringing leftovers from home. Your wallet and your waistline will thank you.
6. Plan out your meals for the week and shop accordingly. Going to the grocery store multiple times a week can lead to overspending. Instead, plan out your meals in advance and buy all the groceries you'll need at once. It'll save you time and money.
7. Quit bad habits. I'm not here to lecture you, but let's be honest: smoking, drinking, and partying all cost money. If you can cut back on these habits even a little, you'll see a positive impact on your bank account.
8. Unsubscribe from shopping emails. We all know how tempting those "20% off" emails can be. Avoid the temptation altogether by unsubscribing from those mailing lists. Trust me, your wallet will thank you.
9. Use coupon codes when you shop online. Before making any online purchases, do a quick Google search for coupon codes. You might be surprised at how much you can save.
10. Buy non-perishable items in bulk. Things like toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies can be much cheaper when bought in bulk. It'll save you money in the long run.
11. Cook at home instead of eating out. Going out to eat is a luxury, not a necessity. Try cooking at home more often and you'll see a big difference in your monthly expenses.
12. Pay off your credit card in full each month. This one is important. Carrying a balance on your credit card can lead to steep finance charges. Make it a priority to pay off your balance in full each month to avoid those extra fees

Home Tips | 5 Steps To An Organized Closet
An organized space can lead to lower stress levels, increased productivity, and even better sleep! By taking the time to organize our physical and mental spaces, we can set ourselves up for success in all areas of our lives. Why not start with your closet today?!
1. Start with a purge: Take everything out of your closet! Donate or sell anything you haven't worn in a year. When you put the clothes you are keeping back in your closet, hang the hangers backward. Once you have worn something, hang it up normally; next time you purge your wardrobe, you will know what you haven't worn!
2. Invest in quality hangers: Wire hangers can damage your clothes over time, so opt for sturdy, thin hangers that can keep your clothing in good condition and save space.
3. Separate by season: Storing clothes you don't need in the off-season can free up a lot of space. Use vacuum bags or plastic bins to keep everything organized and avoid damage from moths.
4. Utilize shelves and drawers: If you have closet space with shelves or built-in drawers, use them! Don't just hang everything up - fold your sweaters or store your shoes in cubbies.
5. Keep it tidy: Once you've put in the work to organize your closet, make it a habit to keep it that way. Take a few extra moments each day to put things back where they belong. Trust me, it'll save you time and stress in the long run.

Informative | The Home Buying Game Plan
1. Find a real estate agent you trust - you want an agent who can guide you through the entire process. It's worth taking the time to carefully choose the right agent. This can take from 1 day to 1 week
2. Your agent will connect you with a trusted lender they have previously worked with! Getting a pre-qualification letter from a lender is essential for determining your budget and moving quickly when you find the perfect home. This can take from 1-2 weeks.
3. While you're waiting for your pre-qual letter, it's a good idea to make a list of your non-negotiables β it may seem like a small detail, but it will save you time and energy in the long run. Ex. You need to be in a specific zip code, your work commute must be 30 min or less, etc. This can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 week!
4. Once you receive your pre-qual and you have informed your agent of your non-negotiables, you're ready to get out there and tour homes! Don't rush β finding the perfect home is a process that may take anywhere from 1 week to several months.
5. When you do find the one, it's time to make an offer and negotiate the deal. This can take anywhere from 3 to 5 days, but don't worry β your agent will have your back every step of the way.
6. After your offer is accepted, it's time to get your loan approved and have an appraisal and inspection. This process takes around 1 month, but patience is key!
7. Finally, it's time to close on your home! This can happen in as little as 1 day, and before you know it, you'll be walking through the doors of your new home sweet home!

Informative | Lightening The Load: Lower Your Mortgage Payment
1. Challenge your property tax assessment: Your mortgage payment may include property taxes, which can be a significant portion of your monthly bill. If you believe your property assessment is too high, you can challenge it and potentially lower your monthly tax payment.
2. Extend your loan term: Another way to lower your mortgage payment is by extending your loan term. This won't lower your interest rate, but it will spread out your payments over a longer period of time, making them more manageable on a month-to-month basis.
3. Pay down your principal: One of the most effective ways to lower your mortgage payment is to pay down your principal. By making extra payments towards your principal each month, you'll reduce the amount of interest you owe over time, which can lower your monthly mortgage payment.
4. Eliminate private mortgage insurance (PMI): If you're currently paying for private mortgage insurance (PMI), you could save big by eliminating it. PMI is typically required if you have less than 20% equity in your home, but once you reach that threshold, you can request to have it removed, which could lower your monthly payment.

Home Tips | How To Purge Your House
Decluttering can also save you time and money. When your home is cluttered, it can be difficult to find the things you need. You may purchase items you own but can't locate or spend unnecessary money on storage solutions. π©π°
So, how can we effectively declutter and purge our homes? Here are a few tips!
1οΈβ£ Start small. Don't overwhelm yourself by attempting to tackle your entire home at once. Start with one room or even one area of a room.
2οΈβ£ Sort items into categories. This makes it easier to decide what to keep and what to get rid of. Categories may include items to donate, items to sell, and items to throw away.
3οΈβ£ Be realistic about what you really need. Ask yourself if you've used an item within the past year. If not, it may be time to let it go.
4οΈβ£ Embrace a "less is more" mentality. By having fewer possessions, we can focus on the things that truly matter to us.

Home Tips | Hacks That Make Your Home Feel Bigger
1. Fool the eye with clever paint choices. By matching the color of your ceiling with the walls, you can blur the edges and instantly create the illusion of more space. For added impact, consider wallpapering your ceiling to draw the eye upwards.
2. Maximize your rug. Opt for a large rug that extends under your furniture, drawing the eye outwards and creating the impression of more floor space.
3. Embrace negative space. Don't feel the need to fill every shelf or surface with dΓ©cor. Leaving gaps in your styling will help create an open and airy feel.
4. Keep furniture streamlined. Big, bulky pieces can make a room feel cramped. Stick to simple, leggy furniture that allows for more floor space to be visible.
5. Harness the power of light and reflections. Mirrors are a tried-and-true way to bounce light around a room, making it feel brighter and more spacious. Place them opposite windows for maximum effect.
6. Opt for light, sheer window treatments. Heavy curtains can dominate a room and make it feel smaller. Choose lightweight alternatives, such as sheer drapes or shutters.
7. Declutter regularly. Too much stuff can make even the roomiest of homes feel cramped. Regularly purging your belongings will help you make the most of your available space.

This is where downsizing comes in. It's a chance to declutter your space, simplify your life, and free up your finances - all while you still have the energy and enthusiasm to enjoy the next chapter of your life. But the question is: when is the best time to downsize?
Here's the thing: there is no one-size-fits-all answer. The right time depends on your unique situation and goals. Some people downsize after retirement, while others do it when their kids leave home. Some do it for financial reasons, while others do it for lifestyle reasons.
However, there are some key signs to look out for. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the maintenance and upkeep of your home, or you find yourself struggling to pay the bills, downsizing could be the right answer. Equally, if you're feeling like your home is too big for your needs, or you're craving more freedom and flexibility, downsizing could be the change you're looking for.
You don't have to make this decision alone. Reach out to me and let's chat about your options and the current market. Remember, taking the first step is often the hardest part, but it's the only way to gain clarity and move forward with confidence.
